History of the Clan
Pennsic XXVII - Swamp Elders (1998)
 Clan Die Fledermaus actually became the oldest and largest group in E28 (the swamp) in 1998. This was the first year that the swamp broke up due to a land dispute of sorts between the Coopers and their prudish neighbors. Kindred moved onto the island in their current location. Nordwulf was no more. The Clan had a rather large number of potential Battlings this year, including Diane, Joel, Nikki, Matt McGarraghy, Chris P., Anna, Cat, Chris W, Lori Rowley, Nick, Dee, Chris, Sally, Myk (Little Pig) and Air. There was a huge, huge thunderstorm and Scott’s tent attempted to masquerade as a boat (somewhat unsuccessfully). The biosphere flooded. Keith’s tent not only flooded, but was later set of fire by Cat (Indeed, that is one way to dry a tent out!). The camp also experienced theft problems. Fitz had several beers taken from his giant beer cooler. The culprit is still at large.
Nevertheless, this was a year of great fun and joy. Sam and Diane were handfasted in a ceremony performed by the Reverend Dr. Ari Jordon. Swamp Fest was in full swing and we debuted our signature drink, the Buttery Bat, outside our gate. This was also the first year Die Fledermaus hosted the Naked Spaghetti Dinner Party.
